Covering any event for MommyBlogExpert is always fun. But, when I receive an invite to cover another Disney event, buzz, excitement, thrills and happy faces from grownups and kids are always guaranteed! For my latest assignment, I brought along my family to attend opening night of the Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove ice skating show at the Long Beach Arena in Southern California just an hour from metro Los Angeles.

From the moment we arrived, concession stand after concession stand filled with bright and colorful gizmos and treats stopped us in our tracks. With so much to do before the show started, it was hard to decide, even for me. The snow cone cups filled with sugary syrup were simply irresistible. So was the cotton candy, popcorn and did I mention all the cool Disney memorabilia. Well I myself, wanted it ALL.

The performance had not even started but holding something sweet and cool put a smile on the young and not so young crowd. After all, who can disagree that when it comes to Disney fun, age simply does not matter?

The show delivered as it promised, the ice ring looked crispy white. Only a few minutes after sitting down, the lights went out and the crowd knew exactly what that meant -- the applause roared as Mickey and Minnie Mouse glided out along with side kicks Goofy and Donald.

Imagine the crowd's delight as so many different major, historical and famous Disney films were brought to life on the ice by the talented cast of performers, ice skaters, and singers. Talk about chills of happiness and the fond memories I as an adult felt when Lion King, one of my all-time favorites, played.

I'll never forget as I sat in the theater watching that movie almost 21 years ago and heard the delight and laughter of all the children in the theater. In fact, the reason Lion King is so special to me is that it was at that moment I knew I wanted to become a mother, and shortly there after conceived my eldest child.

I'm guessing there were plenty of other adults who also felt a deep personal connection to a particular Disney movie. Whether it was Lion King, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Pocahontas, Toy Story, Aladdin or Tangled, without a doubt each was a beautifully packaged entertainment treasure delivering great joy to everyone present.

How wonderful to think. On that magical night all these songs, lyrics, stage, makeup, wardrobe, music and performers created new epic memories bridging the generations.
