And what a blast it was to see this family-friendly show on L.A.'s opening night with two other ladies who value world-class live entertainment -- my daughter who is 16 and my personal trainer Laurel.

This was the first time any of us had ever been to see a Disney on Ice performance and we all agreed it was a really enjoyable evening.

"It connected me with my Disney-infused childhood," Laurel said right after the show. My daughter (a Millennial) and me (a Baby Boomer) couldn't agree more. The performance was equally enjoyed us all, each representing a different generation.

Among my favorites was the Little Mermaid portion of the show. As you'll see from this short video clip I shot below, the flying fish, jelly fish, sting rays and other sea creature were colorfully and beautifully presented, brought to life by Disney on Ice's skating ensemble.

The show featured lots of familiar movie characters and songs, set to beautiful sets and ice skating choreography. I grew up with the Mickey Mouse Club and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Doofus. All these original characters made cameo appearances lending a nostalgic element to the show and reminding even the youngest audience members of Disney's roots. The cast is multi-national led by uber talented principal skaters hailed from not only the U.S. but also Estonia, Russia and Canada, too.

During the performance there were all the familiar vignettes from movies that Laurel and my teen grew up with ranging from Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel to Little Mermaid. Rounding out this year's entertainment Disney on Ice introduced something brand new to the show: Pixar's Brave, complete with bows and shooting arrows along with a generous sprinkling throughout of pyrotechnics, colorful lighting and special effects.
The Torch Skating Dance was especially magically and beautifully choreographed.

A fast-paced, colorful and entertaining production featuring some truly beautiful ice skating, music, sets and costumes. From pre-schoolers to grandparents, this Disney on Ice show offers something all ages will enjoy.
