Prior to working on this review I must confess I'd never heard of Dragons: Riders of Berk from Fox Home Entertainment which was recently released this summer as a two part DVD series. But my video- and movie-loving son sure knew a whole lot about this saga based on How to Train Your Dragon, the hit movie from DreamWorks that was nominated for an Academy Award.
So, very quickly he brought me up to speed on these DVDs' story origins and who all the fascinating animal and human characters are that team up together for this 3D animated fantasy action adventure. Basically he gave me the complete Dragon Training 101 crash course.

In July in San Diego, these new Dragons Riders of Berk DVDs and associated games received quite the kick-off by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and the game's developer, JumpStart, at world-famous Comic-Con. Fun activities to introduce the new entertainment offerings at the show included the opportunity for fans to take a Dreamworks School of Dragons test flight at the companies' booth and much more.

Directed by John Eng and featuring voice over talent like Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zack Pearlman, and others, the separately boxed DVDs -- each including two discs -- is packed with multiple episodes and extras. An exclusive code inside each box is also included good for a free School of Dragons Battle Pack online/mobile game. For more information visit schoolofdragons.com.
