If you are lucky enough to be in the Washington, D.C. area over the next three weeks you are not going to want to miss all the family fun and festivities planned to celebrate this year's annual National Cherry Blossom Festival March 20-April 12. Due snow falling on the first day of Spring in the DC area, the Cherry Blossoms are a little late blooming this year. Though it's hard to tell for sure, the National Park Service is predicting that the Peak Bloom Dates this year will be from April 11-14. Peak Bloom, BTW, is defined as when 70% of the blossoms are open around the Tidal Basin. You can follow nature's progress here at the festival's Bloom Watch page.

You may even want to plan a trip there if it's not on your calendar yet. It may be snowing today in New York and other places, but I know I can't wait to see the cherry blossom trees in the Capitol when I return to the East Coast again in just a couple more weeks.
