NETGEAR Nighthawk Router R7000 Review Solves Connected Family WiFi Overload Challenges

Disclaimer: I am a NETGEAR Ambassador and I received this product in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion and review.

Ever since we installed the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Smart WiFi Router Model R7000 at home it's been a lot quieter around here. That's because my kids no longer hear me constantly yelling "Get off the WiFi" while they play online as I'm trying to meet deadlines for this blog and my social media strategy consultancy in my home office.

Really. I cannot tell you how much our lives have turned around since the Nighthawk R7000 came into our lives. With six of us living under one roof, including four teens who love YouTube, gaming and streaming shows live, our old router just couldn't handle the data traffic jam generated by the average of 3 devices per person that we own totaling up to 18 desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets, often all trying to connect to the internet at once.

To be honest, I was skeptical at first that there was any solution on the planet for our predicament, aside from installing the kind of expensive and super fast WiFi system that a company with 25 or more employees might use. But, thanks to extreme speed and range including speeds of up to 1900 Mbps and a 1 GHz dual core processor I was pleasantly surprised when the Nighthawk R7000 brought peace and quiet to our busy smart household.

SetUp & Installation
Replacing our existing router with the NETGEAR Nighthawk R7000 couldn't have been easier to do, taking less than 30 minutes from start to finish to install. Out of the box the process included just six simple steps
  • Attach the three antennas on the threaded antenna posts without any extra tools, being sure to position the center antenna perpendicular to the router and the other two antennas at a 45 degree angle for best reception
  • Prepare the modem by unplugging its power and disconnecting the cable between your modem and the old router
  • Connect the modem to the Nighthawk R7000 with the included yellow Ethernet cable plugging it in to the Internet port on the router
  • Plug in the power adapter into the router and wall outlet, then wait for the Power LED light on the router front to turn from light amber to white
  • Connect a computer either with an Ethernet cable for a wired connection or do as we did for a wireless connection and connect with WiFi
  • Launch a web browser following the genie screen steps to connect to the Internet, then log in to the router, entering your user name and password and you're ready to enjoy faster, more reliable WiFi at home
