Oscars 2017 iOS Android Apps Enhancing Your Academy Awards At Home Viewing Party

Technology

Last year just prior to the Academy Awards ceremony, I was working as a Vanity Fair Social Club influencer covering the multi-day series of programming, panel discussions and parties featuring many of the 2016 Oscars nominees. It's hard to believe another year has passed , but 2017 Oscars Week is already upon us and will culminate with the star-studded ceremony Sunday night, February 26.

So now's as good a time as any to tell you about some great apps you might want to consider downloading for smartphones and tablets to make your at-home viewing party more enjoyable and interactive.

Oscars Overview

Before getting into the apps, though, if you haven't already, stop by the official Oscars Academy Awards website for an overview of all the happenings on the red carpet, backstage, in the control room, press room, and on stage.  Once again, webcams will be strategically placed around the awards venue at Hollywood & Highland Center, using this app you'll be able to view the winners' extended Thank Yous backstage.

Win a Trip to the Oscars 2018

You'll also want to check out this year's Oscars Challenge presented by United Healthcare, where you'll have the chance to participate in predicting Oscar winners to WIN a trip to the 2018 Oscars red carpet and other great prizes.

6 Best Apps to Take it All In

Now, here are MBE's top picks to enhance your enjoyment and engagement in all the festivities. Go ahead and indulge, because as the Academy says, "We All Dream in Gold."

Livestream

As in past years, you can always tune in to see the show on television. In addition to watching the red carpet and awards ceremony live on ABC, for a more immersive and interactive experience follow the livestreaming show online via ABC.com and/or download the ABC app (for iOS, Android, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Android TV, Roku Channel, and Xbox360) to watch and hear the winners announced in real time.

The Hollywood Reporter

Awards Guide: The Oscars App

Moviefone App
For iOS and Android, where you can not only find the theaters, movie times and buy tickets for Oscar-nominated films that are playing which you want to see, but also see reviews and watch trailers for new and upcoming movie releases.

Fandango App
Offers apps for both iOS and Android as well as Apple Watch, where you can do all the same things as Moviefone plus more including experiencing a customized ticket purchasing and theater seat selection experience.

IMDb App
Whether for iOS or Android, this is your go-to source to see all the details of every movie ever made. This will come in handy while you're watching the Oscars and you want to see a trailer, a complete list of cast members, or other trivia for a particular movie.

Pinterest App
This well-known platform, which runs on both iOS and Android, is a personal favorite of mine.
