With harvests coming in all around the country now we are smack in the middle of the fair season. And it doesn't get any more all-American and family-friendly than the quintessential county fair, does it? Besides who doesn't love the petting zoo, pig races, concerts, wacky foods and other outrageously fun stuff that you can't find anywhere else?

Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge, Fans to Choose Winner w/ $50K Donated to Charity

Whether you are a race car crazed fan or not, here's an entertaining new program that Toyota just announced that will ultimately lead to one deserving charity receiving a $50,000 check from the car maker. Known as the Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge this is a vehicle-modification driven building contest between some of the greatest stars in automotive racing: Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer from NASCAR, and Alexis DeJoria and Antron Brown from NHRA.

This contest is unique in the way it works. First each of the four drivers compete to design and build their ultimate dream racing car. Then fans from around the globe have the opportunity to choose the winner. The prize is a donation to the winning driver's charity of choice and then Toyota writes the $50,000 check for that worthy non-profit.

The fun begins now for the public because you have access to watching the creations of these dream machines unfold through a series of reality-style “minisodes” at ToyotaRacingDreamBuild.com.  Celebrity drivers Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer will be modifying a Camry sedan and a Prius hybrid, respectively, while Antron Brown will be creating their own versions of the Sequoia SUV and Alexis DeJoria will doing a makeover of the Tundra pickup truck. 

The competition has barely started but it is already heating up with the guys (and gal Alexis) all busy at work to build their visions of the best race vehicle ever.

Having driven and reviewed the Prius c and the Prius v the other two members of the Prius Family on MommyBlogExpert recently I have to say this is most definitely not the typical vehicle you'd expect to find in a car race. But that's the fun of it and I can't wait to see what they come up with and how they trick out these vehicles that are typically driven around city and country by the average consumer.

In the video clip here you'll see Team Clint and hear about the amazing tech enhancement ideas -- like adding a GoPro Camera to the side view mirror -- that he and his team have been talking about for their mighty Prius hybrid remix. This is just one minisode example with many more to come before the cars are ready to be judged by people like you.

 

Public voting runs for 10 days beginning October 20th to choose the best rebuild. The winning vehicle will be unveiled in Las Vegas at the Toyota display at the SEMA show on October 30. Even better news: the big reveal event will be available for fans around the world to watch the press conference as the winner is announced live.
