Free Online Family Friendly Game to Win Real Prizes Similar to TV Game Shows

Gaming

As a really busy mom blogger and social media strategist I don't have much time to play on the Internet for fun. But when I was asked to review a new game called Reel Cash Critters County Fair Slots on the Gamesville site for this blog I accepted the opportunity to check it out.

Using your GV Rewards earned by playing various free online games offered by Gamesville, Reel Cash Critters provides a virtual slot machine experience where you have lots of options on how many lines and how much per line to bet on the slot machine. An assortment of colorful fruits, yellow rubber ducks and other cute icons comprise the various images that you'll see rolling by on the screen each time you push the red spin button to play.

Screenshot of Reel Cash Critters Online Game
To enjoy this you need to make sure you have a strong network connection, Adobe Flash Player 10 or above and a 1024 x 768 screen resolution. Be patient when the game loads. Despite having the parameters mentioned above it took me six attempts before I was actually able to play the game and it  took my brand new Mac Mini almost five minutes on that last attempt to load the game the first time I actually got to play it. According to  Gamesville's help tab which I consulted when I received a CTHL error message, if anything breaks up the connection, like a network hiccup, that connection will be lost and you will experience a "CTHL" error.

Be assured though that playing the game, once it has uploaded properly, is easy. To start, first all I had to do was click the "play now" button.  Starting with the bank of 6000 accrued points I had, I tried various combinations of betting but after just 10 minutes was successful in losing all my virtual money and hitting Rock Bottom.

My personal experience hopefully will encourage you to bet more carefully than I did because just like in Las Vegas this one armed bandit can take everything you have very quickly. Have no fear, though, the good news is that if you get down to zero like I did, all you have to do is play more Gamesville games to earn the GVs to start playing again.

I didn't win a monetary prize when I tried out the game but Gamesville says that cash prizes will be awarded at random with a specific set of cash prize symbols having no relation to the GVs you've wagered. These real money awards are given in sums from $5 to $10 in $1 increments and if a cash prize is won, there is a pop-up notification alerting the winner.

I only skimmed the surface myself of Reel Cash Critters' potential because of limited time to test it out. However, for serious gamers with all the opportunities to compete and interact with other members of this online community, I imagine this can be really fun and could be habit forming.

Like a variety of other games Gamesville offers, you can play Reel Cash Critters County Fair Slots for free. With the Gold Membership option you can enjoy the added benefit of an ad-free experience. Another bonus of being a Gold Member is that you can visit the Gold Room every day for a chance to win a cash prize for GV rewards. In fact, today before I started playing the slots, I won 700 GV Rewards in the Gold Room. So I entered them all -- along with the 30,000 GV points I had in my account -- in this month's sweepstakes for a chance to win a Panasonic Lumix LX5 camera.

About Gamesville
Gamesville, offering a range of web-based games, is a popular destination for free online game shows that offer real prizes. On the site you'll learn that like TV and cable game shows, their games are free to play, prizes are given away and the fun is supported by sponsors. The difference between Gamesville and traditional TV game shows though, is that everyone has the opportunity to play to win real stuff.

FTC Disclosure:  This review was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own. I received a Gamesville Gold Membership and compensation for my time investment and work on this campaign. Why Have Kids? A provocative look at parenting today by feminist author Jessica Valenti

Books

In her new book Why Have Kids? that went on sale September 4, author and high-profile feminist Jessica Valenti is very forward about wanting to stir up controversy and frustration that evolves into productive conversation on what it's like to be a modern day mother. She does this boldly, by broaching moral and logistical problems facing today's moms supported by interviews, research and personal experience.

Image provided by the book's publisher

Here Valenti offers an in-depth exposé of having children -- and the realities of its associated rewards, guilt and daily exhaustion -- bringing a discussion out into the open that most of us moms think that we have been alone in experiencing. Point blank, she says, the incompatibility of parents and our kids lifestyles today is hurting us both.

“The truth about parenting," says Valenti, "is that the reality of our lives needs to be enough. Seeking out an ideal that most of us can never reach is making us, and our kids, miserable.”

Instead of focusing on the debate over breastfeeding, for example, the author suggests that what moms really need to do is create communities that can effect collective change in the motherhood status quo. Places that are supportive to all, rather than forming groups of judgment that don't work toward the common goal of every parent: to be happy.

In summary, Why Have Kids? doesn't mince words. Valenti describes the challenges and problems confronting modern parents in great detail and then provides a variety of solutions that can bring joy and satisfaction back into parenting.

Why Have Kids? A New Mom Explores the Truth About Parenting and Happiness by Jessica Valenti, 208 pages (Amazon/New Harvest) is available in hardcover ISBN: 978-0-8050-9412-1 $23.00 and in digital format ASIN: B008L4KT6W for $9.99.
