Recently released on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD, The Book of Life is the ultimate colorful fun family adventure, Mexican fiesta style. As a big screen favorite last year this picture received the Golden Globe Nomination for Best Animated Feature Film. You and the kids now have the opportunity to view this film at home, joining Manola, Maria and Chuy on a breathtaking magical animated journey that you won't forget.

The Storyline

This fairy tale story revolves around Manolo who is torn between living up to what his family expects from him and the desires of his heart. With a carnival of colorful multi-faceted imagery, action and song blending Hispanic Latino cultures, the celebration of life behind the Day of the Dead and comedy as the backdrop, this young man sets off on an epic fantasy adventure spanning three worlds. It's a journey filled with magic, music, wonder and more as Manolo finally is able to rejoin the love of his life and save his village.

The movie's musical score bridges more than a half century of the greatest song of all time --from the drunken mariachi band singing Do Ya Think I'm Sexy by Rod Stewart, whom I've adored since the 1970s, to rocking music by Elvis Presley from the 50s. There's also the film's positive message about ancestors who are gone in body but who are really still within the hearts of those who loved them making this a film offering something young, middle-aged and older viewers can all relate to.  It's multi-generational appeal is in fact is one of the biggest reasons why this new home entertainment release is such a gem.

Directed by Jorge R. Guitierrez and produced by Guillermo del Toro, the all-star voice cast includes names you'll recognize: Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, Ron Perlman, Kate del Castillo, Christina Applegate and Ice Cube.
