In the past week, as the pounds start to come off, I've started gaining more energy to do the things I love -- like hiking with my family and cycling more on a bike path near the beach.

At the same time, without feeling hungry as I exercise more, I'm continuing to lose weight with this easy to stick with diet which even offers a weekly cheat day if you do some moderate exercise regularly like I do. Even if you're not very active, don't worry: The good news is this diet still allows you one cheat meal every week.

Q&A with Joel Marion, author of Always Eat After 7 PM

In the second part of this MBE series you'll be hearing from the book's author. This will help readers better understand how the diet Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts and Indulgent Snacks -- While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion works and why you should consider giving it a try. So, without further adieu, Joel Marion answers some of the most burning questions I (and you) might be wondering about.

Always Eat After 7 PM Author Joel Marion

Q 1: Where does the inspiration from this book come from and why did you write it?

"After writing six books," says Marion, "I came to the realization that there are two big myths about dieting that I felt needed to be exposed. The first concept is that it's a bad idea to eat late at night or before going to sleep. Science now shows this simply isn't true. The second misconception is that if you're trying to diet, you can't eat large portions of foods which feel filling and satisfying. Again, that's been proven wrong. This book, backed by hundreds of sources listed in the reference section, solves both these challenges by providing an easy, enjoyable and doable dieting approach that can be used by a variety of individuals to achieve just about any weight loss goals they desire."

Q2: What is different about this book from the other related titles you have written on similar topics?

"Many of the other books I've authored do share some common ground," explains Marion. "However the biggest standout difference in my newest book is that now you don't have feel deprived of the foods you love. What's more is you have don't have burden yourself with eating every few hours nor do you have to feel hunger pangs between meals. Best of all you don't have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before you go to sleep at night."

Eating Before Sleep

Marion points out, "Late-night eating also curbs calorie intake the next day. In a four-week study, dieters added a snack to their regimen 90 minutes after dinner every night. And, check this out: late-night eaters ate an average of 397 fewer calories per day."

In conclusion, not all diets are about self deprivation, of avoiding all kinds of carbohydrates and having to eat only boring, low calorie meals that leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

Now I know I can have a guilt-free late-night snack and not feel like I'll pay for it the next day. As long as my bedtime mini meal is a fat-burning, healthy nosh such as a protein shake or several hard boiled eggs suggested by this diet to get me through the 16-hour intermittent fast each night, I'll likely be burning fat while I sleep.

More Posts Coming in the Weeks Ahead

Next time, I'll give you an update on my personal weight loss journey. In my Week #3 post, you'll read about what I've learnt from this diet book about goal setting and how it might help you be successful, too. Be sure to stay tuned because I'll also be sharing some of the delicious easy-to-prepare dishes I've made at home based on the recipes included in Always Eat After 7 PM.

American Museum of Natural History SpaceFest Today

It's a exciting day for young and old. I'm fortunate to have lived to remember the historic moment when man first walked on the moon on July 29, 1969 which only adds to the excitement for me on a personal level. Today, history is expected to be made again with the scheduled launch of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, destined for the International Space Station (ISS). This is a particularly momentus time as it is the first U.S. human mission into space in almost a decade.

Why I'm Reviewing This Book

Over the next month I'll be sharing weekly posts summing up what I'm learning from the new book Always Eat After 7 PMThe Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts and Indulgent Snacks -- While Burning Fat Overnight, (BenBella Books, 2020) by Joel Marion. My hope is that each story I share about my personal journey in this 4-part series inspires MBE's like-minded readers who lead full and busy family lives to find your own happy and healthy place by eating delicious food that's actually good for you without feeling deprived.

Accepting The Challenge

No matter what your age, if you have kids like I do, who doesn't want to look and feel your best all the time, right? For me, that means consistently have the energy and physical stamina to keep up with a busy household where both my husband and I work, as well as to enjoy staying active with my four 20-something children whenever we travel together.

Being physically fit doesn't happen by itself, though. It involves a simple, but healthy, science-based diet plan like the one that is the cornerstone of Marion's new book, as well as some lifestyle changes on your part. Watch this short clip to hear from the author himself.

Your personal goal might be to lose many pounds or take off some weight that might be causing or aggravating chronic health problems. No judgement here: whatever the situation to priority is doing what's best for you on your terms.

In my case, I don't want to give up eating delicious food, especially chocolate and desserts. But, I do want to shed about 10 pounds to reach and maintain my ideal Body Mass Index (BMI). That's to ensure I have enough body fuel to continue to keep up with my very active family of six when we zipline over the Cancun jungle, venture into the African bush tracking animals on a photo safari, and white water raft through Class 4 Rapids, followed by a leisurely rappel down a 150 foot waterfall in Costa Rica. Talk about a family that lovingly pushes you to your personal physical limits, but I love every minute of our often extreme adventures.

Inspiration to Fuel Your Transformation

According to the author of Always Eat After 7 PM"Research shows that the average person's metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day." Marion further explains, "In short, your metabolism doesn't slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it's 8 am or 8 pm, you use food for energy the same same way."

In my coming weekly posts here on MommyBlogExpert.com you'll learn so much more about how Marion's diet strategy works to structure when and what you are eating and drinking in new ways so you can achieve your personal goals. In Week #2 I'll be discussing more about why I chose to work on this project as well as share an interview with Joel Marion.
