Westminster Dog Show Wannabes - 2nd Annual Mutt Show on The View This Friday

Westminster Puppy Also-Rans:
Don't Drown Yourselves in the Cake Batter Bowl Just Yet

by Janis Brett Elspas

That's right: Westminster Wannabes, you Heinz 57s have another chance to strut your stuff -- with your tongues fully sticking out, no less.  Best of all, one lucky dog among you (a mutt, of course, who else?) will receive The View's coveted Pedigree Dogs Rule award this Friday.

The upcoming show airing Friday, February 19 from 11 a.m. to noon EST will feature The View's exclusive Westminster behind-the-scenes interview with Sadie, the very smug Scottish Terrier that won Best in Show at this year's dog show yesterday.   Asked my almost 13 year-old daughter who wants to be a veterinarian, upon seeing a photo of the Westminster prize winner in the Los Angeles Times this morning,  "I don't get it. What do those judges see in that hairy black thing, anyway?"

Mutts, hold the howling, please.

That's because this prelude of a canine conversation is a perfect companion to The 2nd Annual Mutt Show, The View's tongue-in-cheek spoof on the other, much better known competition.  This will most certainly give underdogs one leg up on the competition as human dog lovers everywhere will be tuning in to see a parade that can be likened to the Doo Dah Parade's parody on the Rose Bowl Parade -- only The View's version will include select viewers and their dogs, as well as showcase some beautiful, personable adoptable dogs that are seeking families to love.  What's more is that actress Bernadette Peters , with her own faithful four-legged child at her side, will help inspire all the onstage dog park-style pageantry.  Here's a sneak peek

The big question is:  Will Barbara Walters or any of the other The View regulars be bringing their better halves with four legs, too?  Your guess is as good as mine, so I suppose we'll all just have to wait to find out.

One thing is for sure, it sounds like animal lovers have a reality dog show that celebrates man's truest of best friends to look forward to at week's end.

Consider leaving a comment with this post because both The View and MommyBlogExpert want to know what you think.

Mommy Blog Expert Janis Brett Elspas Selected as ABC's The View Brand Ambassador

by Janis Brett Elspas

Those astute visitors to MommyBlogExpert will notice the brand new graphic that now graces this blog's homepage.  Pictured here, this blogger badge was designed exclusively for The View Brand Ambassador program.  I am very excited to have been selected to join this group of insiders that was pooled from the members of the Mom Central community.

During the next four weeks as I fulfill my The View Brand Ambassador responsibilities, I invite you to tune in to all the assorted blog entries I'll be posting on MommyBlogExpert related to The View.  For starters, I'll be giving you the inside scoop on upcoming topics and special guests to appear on this popular morning talk show as soon as possible after the show's producers clue me in on the latest 411.  Even more intriguing, I'll be sharing my uncensored opinions as a mother of four children including triplets all born within a year and as a Mommy Blogger about this talk program and the show's relevance to enhancing the quality of family living for both children and adults.

Now in its 13th season, The View, winner of 28 Daytime Emmys and other awards of excellence, is broadcast live weekdays on ABC from New York City from 11 a.m. - Noon EST.  Since the show's inception various leading ladies have served as co-hosts.  Currently the chatter is moderated by Whoopi Goldberg, who is joined daily by comedian Joy Behar, actress/comedian Sherri Shepherd, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, a designer and former participant on the reality epic Survivor: The Australian Outback.  Executive Producer Barbara Walters, whose Barwall Productions company produces The View with Bill Geddie, who also serves as executive producer for The Barbara Walters Specials, and ABC Daytime.  Walters injects a unique edgy energy to the show, as only she can orchestrate, appearing in front of the cameras with the four female co-hosts about three times each week.

I encourage you to watch The View.  Then, leave your comments and own thoughts on this thought-provoking show below each and every MommyBlogExpert post.  This is your chance to be part of the interactive conversation and I can't wait to hear about what each of you think.
