New Designer Fragrance by Diane von Furstenberg This Fall - Perfectly Indulgent for Hard Working Moms

Beauty

As a reader of Vogue Magazine for more than 25 consecutive years I love being a member of the Vogue Influencer Network.  Today I received my latest opportunity to try a new scent called Diane by Diane von Furstenberg 6.7 oz Perfumed Body Lotion. Also tucked inside the beautiful beribboned package that arrived this afternoon was a sample size of Diane Eau De Toilette Vaporisateur Natural Spray and a postcard from Diane with the fragrance tagline "Be the woman you want to be!"

Diane, created by von Furstenberg who is a mom of two children and grandmother of three, is made in France like all the world's best fragrances. This fragrance was launched at Fashion's Night Out this month. As DVF's first scent, this fragrance is both fresh and sensual relying on boldly intermingling two florals: the Frangipani and Violet nicely set off with a light, but noticeable zing of myrrh, musk and patchouli. The musk, in particular, stirs up vintage memories of disco and the late 70s in my mind.

I've been a DVF admirer since I graduated high school in 1974, the same year she took the fashion industry by storm with her iconic wrap dress. Since she's become a legend not only in her own rite as a fashion brand but also as a highly visible philanthropist for a variety of causes. Yet, for all she's accomplished, von Furstenberg says, "Children are my greatest creation."  As a mom myself of four born within a year, including triplets, I could not admire her more for everything she's done as a high profile fashion designer and as a regular mom raising kids.

In addition to Diane Fragrance Perfumed Body Lotion in Seductive Gold ($45), other products in the new line include Eau De Parfum 50 ml ($85) and 100 ml ($110), Eau De Toilette 50 ml ($65) and 100 ml ($90), and a 2-piece Fragrance Gift Set ($85). There's even a gorgeous new Diane Fragrance Wrap Dress in Stones White ($345) that is being juxtaposed in store and online with the fragrance. Not only do I adore the new fragrance, I think that knock out dress may be calling out my name right now.

How about you -- Are you a DVF fan? Is so, what do you like most about Diane von Furstenberg and why?

Pacific Standard Time Museum Art Exhibition Offers FREE Oct 2 Admission to 25 Major California Venues

Museums

In partnership with Pacific Standard Time, an arts initiative piloted by the Getty that zeroes in on the history of art in Southern California between 1945 - 1980, at least 25 major museums in the region will be offering free admission to the public on October 2. Pacific Standard Time is likely to be one of the largest efforts to share art with the entire West Coast community as it involves more than 60 of local cultural groups in Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire, San Diego, and elsewhere in the area. This special collaborative exhibition at multiple venues is already underway with events planned through the 2012. This is definitely a great opportunity for families, moms, dads, and children to enjoy all the art and other exhibits there are to see.

Best of Rosh Hashanah Holiday Cooking and Art Craft Ideas for Kids & Kid-Like Adults

Celebrations & Crafts

Pictured above: Edible Apple Dish my 14 year-old made today using a new variety of apple called HoneyCrisp...

I love holidays, especially Rosh Hashanah, the first Jewish celebration and observance of fall this year because it begins starting at sundown tonight running through September 29 to 30. Certainly, cooking and crafting together -- no matter what the holiday -- is a really fun way to bond family parents and children of every age: toddlers school age students teens and even kids home from college. It is also the perfect way to create memories that will last a life time.  Spend some quality time together and enjoy your kids with the ideas with links below to inspire you, includes cooking and crafting ideas plus downloadable holiday theme color pages.

Martha Stewart is the Queen of Holiday Crafts in my book. And this Apple Honey Dish from her 2010 vault of uber creative ideas is made from a real apple is my all-time fave Rosh Hashanah idea for our family table this year. In fact, one of my triplets made the apple dish pictured above this afternoon.

Another great idea is a DIY stuffed toy challah from Akhlah that is not made with real flour that mom or even older children can make with proper supervision and motor skills. All you need is 3 panty hose legs and some tissue paper for stuffing and you are ready to braid, then coil the "legs" into a round loaf of faux challah bread.

From Chabad the worldwide Jewish outreach organization comes a great collection of free downloadable coloring pages to celebrate the holiday.

Lastly, since I'm a prize-winning cooking with pomegranate fan, here is a beautiful and really easy and simple craft that you'll want to use from year to year: A Pomegranate Napkin Ring designed by Joy of Kosher.

Please comment and share your own fun crafts for the Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah.
