Heart of Haiti - Giving Eco Artists in a Devastated Land a Chance to Rebuild Their Own Community

Heart of Haiti, in partnership with Fairwinds Trading and Brandaid is helping to rebuild Haiti through "Trade, Not Aid."

At the core of this effort are talented Haitian artisans who are making and selling art in a variety of mediums from textiles, to painting, to metalwork and others.  By doing so they are participating in commerce and culture to drive social change and to help rebuild Haiti's infrastructure after the crushing Earthquake more than a year ago.

The Heart of Haiti collection has already led to employment of 350 artists in Haiti and has provided some financial benefits for an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 people in the country.  Just as good in my opinion, is that each and every piece of beautiful and unique artwork produced is crafted by hand and is produced using recycled materials.

Celebrate the 1st Night of Hanukkah TONITE with Adam Sandler and His 8 Crazy Nights Song

I absolutely love Adam Sandler's Chanukah Song. You will too if you watch this YouTube clip of Adam -- the Comedic Star of 8 Crazy Nights -- performing in Chicago a few years back with his awesome rendition of the famous Hanukkah Song.  If this doesn't get you and your kids into the holiday spirit for the Festival of Lights, nothing will.

I'm running around crazy myself right now as it will soon be candle lighting for the first night here on the West Coast.  Then, I'll be making some homemade Pomegranate Sufganiot (Jelly Doughnuts) and Crunchy Latkes (Potato Pancakes) for my kids.  Watch for pics on this blog throughout Hanukkah to see how our family will be celebrating the 8-night holiday in some very unique ways.

Light your menorah and spin a dreidel top tonight with your kids.

Enjoy & Happy Hanukkah from Our House to Yours!

Crayola has been a part of almost every American kid's life for generations -- I know these were among my favorite art supplies when I was in grade school.

Once again, the company that originally coined the word Crayons has come through with a variety of free downloadable coloring pages for Hanukkah.

Click on the links to get these FREE down loadables for your kids to use at home, at Hebrew School, at public schools, or for homeschools.
P.S. Last call for the Crayola K-12 Contest that ends December 1, 2010, so be sure to enter before the deadline.

What are you doing for Hanukkah this year? And if you'd like to share, what was your favorite color Crayon (mine was Macaroni & Cheese) when you were little?  Please leave a comment and share your Chanukah plans and/or Crayon childhood memories.
