New on Blu-ray and DVD this month is The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Sixth Season complimenting Warner Bros. another Warner Bros. Home Entertainment release within the last few weeks of The Originals: The Complete Second Season.
The Vampire Diaires: The Complete Sixth Season
Mystic Falls will never be the same when one of the hottest vampires on screen or off. This new release includes all 22 episodes of Season 6. This series, which is The CW's #1 show with females, averages 2.7 million viewers per episode. What a way to celebrate the coming of The Vampire Diaries: The Seventh Season which premieres on October 8, 2015.
Synopsis
Season 6 follows a very exciting Season 5, which ended with a shocking finale centered around Damon. In Season 6, which is full of suspense drama and of course vampires, it's interesting to point out that most of the episodes are named after songs released in 1994 and 1903. For example the first Season 6 episode is titled I'll Remember which immediately reminded me of Madonna singing the song by the same name when it was released in, you guessed it, 1994. You'll not only recognize many familiar characters returning in these episodes from the priot season, you will also get to see Matt Davis bringing the character Alaric Saltzman being brought back to life after returning from The Other Side.
About This Warner Bros. Title
The Vampire Diaries: The Seventh Season includes a feature run time of approximately 928 minutes plus approximately two hours of extras including a pair of brand-new featurettes, episodic audio commentary, the 2014 Comic-Con panel, deleted scenes and my favorite--the gag reel. On sale now: $49.99 SRP for the DVD and $54.97 SRP for the Blu-ray.
FTC Disclosure: I disclose I received the Blu-ray + Digital HD video featured to facilitate this new movie release review. All images in post provided by Warner Bros. Wrapping up a flaming hot summer, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is having an incredibly busy year moving toward fall, cranking out cool new releases on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. In fact in the last month alone, not one but two separate titles -- both complete seasons of very popular cable series -- have been rolled out and are now available to home viewers including The Originals: The Complete Second Season and The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Sixth Season.
The Originals: The Complete Second Season
Timed to coincide with the third season series premiere on The CW, fans now have the opportunity to own The Originals: The Complete Second Season in Blu-ray and/or DVD that was just released on September 1. The Originals enthusiasts will be thrilled to have not only all 22 nail biting one-hour episodes at the ready to watch again and again, you'll also be treated to more than one hour of never before seen extras including the famous 2014 Panel Comic-Con, featurettes, deleted scenes and even a gag reel which is hilarious.
Synopsis
In the second season the original vampire-werewolf hybrid Klaus Mikaelson, along with his odd ball siblings Elijah and Rebekah, return to the supernaturally charged city of New Orleans that viewers will remember from the first season. Upon arrival they're all surprised to find that werewolf Hayley (who was pregnant with his child) and his vampire sidekick Marcel (who the Original siblings had assumed was dead) are ruling the French Quarter. A bloody war soon ensues between vampires and witches and the plot thickens when new characters emerge to upset the ghoulish apple cart. You'll have a hard time stopping between episodes because each one has a cliff hanger that leaves you begging to find out what happens next. So my suggestion is that you don't start watching until you have a good block of time free for a mini marathon of drama, intrigue and suspense.
About This Warner Bros. Title
Based in part on the character Klaus from The Vampire Diaries novels by L.J. Smith, Season Two of The Originals stars Joseph Morgan (The Vampire Diaries, Ben Hur), Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries, Saving Hope), Phoebe Tonkin (The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle), Charles Michael Davis (Grey's Anatomy) and other names fans are very familiar with. Both the Blu-ray and the 5-DVD set are presented with subtitles in 16 x9 widescreen format. Includes a feature run time of approximately 968 minutes plus approximately 84 minutes of extras. On sale now: $44.98 SRP for the DVD and $49.99 SRP for the Blu-ray.
