A week ago I attended the Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show held in Ventura at the Ventura County Fairgrounds which is right on the beach. The day couldn’t have been more perfect – it was a smooth drive from where I live in Los Angeles and the weather was lovely in Ventura (how could it not be when you are this close to the sand and surf)!

After my daughter and I passed through the gates, we immediately headed towards the interactive Kidzone area. We checked out the Macaroni Kid and My Gym booths. There was a juggler dressed up in a scary (but not too scary) Halloween costume entertaining the crowd nearby. My daughter’s favorite section was the pumpkin patch that was located right across from the My Gym booth.

Once my daughter had her fill of the children's dedicated recreation area, it was mommy’s turn to shop and have some fun. There were three separate halls (San Miguel Hall, Anacapa Hall and San Nicolas Hall) just filled to the brim vendors who are showcasing unique items and specialty foods. I enjoyed looking at each of the booths, shopping for both the upcoming holidays (so many fun Christmas items) as well as trinkets for myself.

Girlie Girl Creations had the most beautiful handmade purses and handbags!

There were also booths selling Halloween and Christmas home decorations.

As someone who sits at a desk all day long, typing on a computer, I often get pain in my right wrist, arm and elbow. I stumbled upon an essential oil booth that promised pain relief. I immediately asked the owner of Ho’omana Oils to recommend some products. This Hawaiian based company produces organic food grade essential oils on their farm located on the Big Island of Hawaii. After massaging my right arm with “Hawaii’s Healing Oil” I started to feel better.

My daughter was quite tired after a day full of shopping with me. There is so much to see and do at the Harvest Festival Original Art & Craft Show. I enjoyed looking at all of the innovative gifts and unique handmade items that combine art with function in a variety of ways, from hand-pressed olive oil and handmade fudge, to beautiful jewelry, clothing, accessories and ornaments.

#GoodDino

The family friendly The Good Dinosaur movie from Disney Pixar won't be released till Thanksgiving. Still, I wanted to whet your appetite now for what looks to be a deliciously wonderful animated adventure coming to the big screen on November 25, 2015.

Synopsis
The Good Dinosaur is all about the flipside of what might have happened if that asteroid missed colliding with Earth and dinosaurs were still alive today.

Here's a sneak peek at the epic journey into that fantasy world where Arlo, an Apatosaurus (voiced by Raymond Ochoa) has an unlikely encounter with modern man who he befriends...
