Today, February 3rd, is Elmo's Birthday! So we're celebrating by watching the Sesame Street: Wonderful World of Friends DVD (also available on Digital), the latest Sesame Street home family entertainment release in the series from Shout! Factory and Sesame Workshop. Read on for our review as well as how to enter the new giveaway we're running.

The Storyline

This new title entertains and teaches kids about friendship through the beloved Sesame Street characters Elmo, Big Bird, Rosita and the rest of their friends. During 2+ hours of fun viewing for the whole family, the wholesome children's release celebrates cultural traditions from around the globe, introducing boys and girls to a cast of international visitors. 

Over the course of the video, kids will be virtually transported to an international food festival, as well as learn about the Indian Holiday Rakhi and what being Mexican means to Rosita. Special guests include Alessia Cara, Billy Porter, Josh Groban, and John Legend.

This family is spookier and kookier than ever in The Addams Family 2 (2021, PG) animated comedy kids movie from Universal Pictures, now available on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Code as of today. The sequel to The Addams Family (2019) the new picture features an all star voice cast including Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Javon 'Wanna' Walton, Wallace Shawn, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler and Bill Hader. 

With a wonderful music score by Oscar winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Best Music - 2013) and his brother Jeff Danna (who with Mychael, also composed the music for Pixar Animation's Onward), this is a good film for a family movie night at home this winter.

The Storyline

In The Addams Family 2 family matriarch Morticia and patriarch Gomez are back. They're now distraught parents of kids who are growing up, acting out, and glued to "scream time." To try and reinstate their family bond and sense of togetherness, mom and dad nudge kids Wednesday and Pugsley, along Uncle Fester and the rest of their freaky crew, to embark on the ultimate wacky family roadtrip in their haunted camper. The goal is one last miserable family vacation, but what happens is not what any of them expected.

Saving Money With Kids, Best Family Ski Resorts 

Okay, I admit it. I'm a family-centric ski bum. My hubbie (who still loves racing and jumping off cliffs I wouldn't dare attempt myself) and all of our four kids -- who were skiing intermediate runs before they turned 4 years old -- love it too. Nothing can stop me and my whole family from heading to the slopes whenever the opportunity arises.

In fact, I've broken a leg twice during past ski seasons. But, year and year, you can still expect to see me getting off the lift to head down one of my many favorite ski trails. For sure, this passion goes way back to my younger days. For many years before having children, my hubbie and I skiied most of the world's best resorts both in the US and Canada.

Tips to Saving Money on a Family Ski Trip 

We still love to ski but now we do it as a family, and for the most part, we drive instead of fly to our destination.  Especially in our home state of California the quality and quantity of snow this season has been the best in many, many years. BTW, Don't miss my picks for family-friendly skiing in California at the bottom of this post. 

Yes, skiing keeps getting more expensive every year and it really adds up when you're bringing children along. The good news is there are ways to save money on everything from your lift tickets and ski equipment to meals, travel and accomodations.

• Ski locally when possible to avoid overnight expenses 
• Drive instead of fly to your destination 
• Ski in Low Season (typically January - February)
• Plan your ski trips for non-holidays 
• Rent equipment near home and bring with you 
• Shop around for lift ticket specials (mid-week, low season etc) 
• Look for discounts for kids, those with disabilities, seniors 
• Book a condo (instead of hotel rooms) for your family 
• Stay several miles from the base of the mountain 
• Shop for groceries instead of eating meals out 
• Bring food/drinks with you to the mountain each day 
• Seek out end-of-season sales for equipment, ski clothing 
• Borrow ski wear from friends or shop thrift stores
