How to Train Your Dragon fans of the award-winning TV series DreamWorks Dragons: Defenders of Berk will be thrilled to know that the 2013 Annie Award winner for Best Animated Television Production for Children recently launched on DVD and Digital HD. I know one of my kids has been following every move that the Train Your Dragon franchise makes.

 The Dragons: Defenders of Berk Part 1 DVD, following the Riders of Berk DVD which was released for home viewing last Fall, is a prelude to the summer big screen release of How to Train Your Dragon 2 that's scheduled to swoop into theaters on June 13, 2014.

 In this newly released DVD, Hiccup and Toothless and his like-minded dragon training friends find themselves in battle to defend their island home. The action is fast-paced with the whipper snapper Vikings using all their dragon fighting talents to defeat a bevy of dangerous and surprising new enemies along the way. The series features original voice talent from the film, boasting well-known names like Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Zack Pearlman and more.

Peeps have been around for generations: more than 60 years to be exact. Ever since the company's humble beginnings back in 1953, the brand has been synonymous with the coming of Spring and Easter for young and old. Back in the day there were just a few varieties like the yellow marshmallow chicks and pink rabbits to enjoy. While those two types are still great sellers at this time of year, the Peeps Easter Collection has grown from the original original yellow chicks to Easter Bunnies in Pastel Colors and now includes a wide variety of delicious Peeps products available in both the U.S. and Canada in stores and on Amazon.

Kids and big kids at heart still squeal with delight when they discover these fluffy sugar coated marshmallow chick and bunny treats in their Easter baskets. They're wonderful to eat straight out of the package, too. But, until I did some research for this post and created the Peeps Girls Easter Hairband craft pictured below, I had no idea how hugely popular they have become as ingredients in creative recipes, wonderful arts and crafts and lots more that fans have been dreaming up.

It seems that Peeps are just about everywhere on the Internet -- from Pinterest boards, to mom and lifestyle blogs, to recipe sites and many more. There's even a Wikipedia page devoted to the brand.


All I've curated here may surprise you, too. Each and every Peeps DIY project referenced in this post is easy enough for you and your children to make together. What ever you choose to do, you can look forward to fun and quality time with the whole family.

Peeps Easter Girls Hairband DIY Craft, MommyBlogExpert.com
It doesn't get any easier than this fun DIY Easter craft created by MommyBlogExpert for you and your daughter to make together. The Peeps Girls Hairband pictured here was made in less than five minutes with a store-bought hairband that already had a bow attached. But, you could also use a plain hairband and some ribbon to create your own from scratch, to create something equally spectacular that your child will love.

Only a few things are needed to make this
  • Peeps Marshmallow Chicks or Bunnies candy in your choice of color: yellow, white, pink, green, orange, brown, purple, or blue
  • A ready-made hairband, either with bow or plain
  • Some ribbon for a bow (if using a plain hairband)
  • White craft glue

How to Make It?
Simply open a pack of Peeps and gently separate the number of chicks or bunnies you want to use. Then apply a small amount of white glue to the hairband where you'd like to attach the Peep(s) to the hairband. Gently press the Peeps against the glue on the hairband. Once it's dry, it's ready for your little girl to wear and enjoy. Just remember not to leave this laying around the house, if you have a baby, dog or cat around they might try and eat your daughter's new Easter hair accessory.

 Variations on this simple craft idea include gluing Peeps, some ribbon and miscellaneous novelties you have around the house to other types of hair accessories such as a barrette or hairclip. Your child might even enjoy making her own Easter Bonnet with the same craft concept based on a hat you already own (or an inexpensive one you can find at a dollar store).
