Softcard Mobile Wallet App for iPhone 5

Smartphone mobile security just keeps getting better. When last I wrote about the secure Softcard Mobile Wallet app, it was to share the experience of trying it out on my daughter's new Android smartphone which included the Sim card needed to run this secure application. I'm a huge iOS fan though -- so I have to admit I was a little jealous of my teenager having access to this indispensible smart wallet app that at the time was running only on select Android phones by switching out the Sim card. So when I was offered the opportunity to review the app on my iPhone 5 with the new Incipio Cashwrap Mobile Wallet Battery Case that runs on the Verizon Network it took me about 5 seconds to say yes.

The Softcard wallet app for iPhone is the best thing since sliced bread because it allows you the convenience to shop with all of those credit cards and loyalty memberships safely stored on your smartphone. No more having to carry around a classic wallet overstuffed with cash, coins and plastic cards of every description like I used to -- that is so old school.
With this new add-on Softcard wallet ready case, all I have to do is bring my iPhone 5 along (and of course my driver's license if I'm driving) when I run out to the store to pay for products and services I've been buying for years.
The Incipio Cashwrap case is built with a Near Field Communication (NFC) antenna that makes it possible to use your iPhone to send payment hands free at checkout. The case also features a Secure Element Micro SD Card that archives and protects the contents of your Wallet in the off chance it falls into the wrong hands. The app is PIN protected as well as can be locked remotely in the event of loss.
The Softcard Mobile Wallet app that I tested for this review was fast and easy to download and use. After opening the Incipio Cashwrap product box, in less than 5 minutes, I snapped my iPhone into the 1500mAh rechargeable battery powered case, then plugged it in to the wall to charge.
As soon as the device was fully powered, downloading the Softcard Mobile Wallet for Verizon app onto the phone from the App Store was a breeze, too. The last step to get this ready for your next shop is to connect your participating credit cards from American Express, Chase or Wells Fargo Bank.
Whether or not you have any of those eligible bank cards, you can always set up an American Express Serve prepaid card to turn your phone into a wallet. Then simply transfer as much or as little additional funds as you'd like on demand into that AmEx Serve account from your preferred credit card or a U.S. bank debit card.

Now you're ready to go shopping at your favorite stores that accept this new age way of paying for goods and services. With just a tap on my iPhone I can pay for many of the things that previously required a physical credit card or cash. In my neighborhood there are more than 50 places where I now can use my smartphone to make purchases with this Mobile Wallet, and the list of merchants that accept it is growing.
Stores in my area that offer the ability to pay by Mobile Wallet include big chain stores such as Verizon Wireless, PetCo, Walgreens, CVS, Chevron and Guess to thrift shops like the Council Thrift Shop and Goodwill, to restaurants including Jamba Juice and McDonalds and even small local neighborhood businesses such as Tannenbaum Chiropractic and Artistic Hair Designs, plus many more.
You can pay with your Softcard enabled smartphone on both select Android and select iOS devices, depending on whether the carrier is Verizon, AT&T or TMobile.
