Maintaining Diet Momentum

Time really flies. It's hard to believe I'm beginning the fourth week on this new weight loss journey I've been telling you about: Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks -- While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion

At this point in my personal challenge I'm excited to share that while I'm still enjoying delicious food that's allowed like Salted Dark Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies and the Fresh Fruit Mini Tarts pictured above, I am just 2 pounds away from reaching my goal of losing a total of 10 pounds.

Now that the finish line is finally in sight, I feel more motivated than ever to keep going by focusing on keeping my eyes on the prize. While I run the final lap in the Main Phase of this diet challenge, I'm already thinking ahead to what I'm going to need to do to maintain my healthy weight goal once I've reached it. Of course, I'll be continuing to get outside to walk, hike, or cycle every day this summer since I've always been active. But, thankfully, Always Eat After 7 PM includes a maintenance eating plan called the Lifestyle Phase to keep me fully fueled with the energy necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle.

"The Lifestyle Phase is designed to help you stay thin and fit," Marion explains in his book. "while avoiding a recurrence of problems with your metabolism or rebound weight gain. While still technically a part of the Always Eat After 7 PM plan, the Lifestyle Phase is more a set of flexible guidelines to live by then a 'diet' per se. It is a continuation of all the strategies you've grown used to so far."

I look forward to continuing to experiment with all the delicious recipes in the book. From BBQ Chicken En Papillote, which is a juicy chicken with no sugar added BBQ sauce that's wrapped and baked in parchment paper, to One-Pan Garlic Roasted Salmon and Broccoli, Fresh Fruit Mini Tarts for dessert, and Chili-Spiced Nuts for a pre-bedtime fat-burning snack, there are still so many permitted options that I can't wait to try.

Influencers and Bloggers More Traffic Tips

Influencer Secrets

How to Grow Your Brand, Social Channels

MBE partnered with Russell Brunson for this story, post contains affiliate links

Though I've been working as an influencer for more than a decade, it's still a priority to constantly learn new things to keep my skill set current. In fact, during the past few weeks I have been reading Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels With Your Dream Customers by Russell Brunson which I received to facilitate this sponsored content, I've acquired more new knowledge than I ever thought possible about innovative strategies to integrate into better serving MBE's audience.

Influencer Traffic Building Tips

This latest educational journey began last month as I started applying what I've learnt so far from Traffic Secrets. By sharing some of the highpoints of this learning adventure, my hope is that other lifestyle influencers at all levels -- beginners to seasoned professionals like me -- will also benefit from this book and by hearing about my own first-hand experiences with it.

A Hands-On Overview of the Book

I know it's frustrating, but it's a common problem for a lot of bloggers and influencers. If you're like me, you're producing great content and images, but your audience still isn't growing as much as you'd like.

What gives? Just because you build it, doesn't mean your readers or buyers (if you're selling a product) will come and read your content and/or buy what you're offering for sale, right? That's where reading Traffic Secrets and doing the suggested exercises in each section can potentially help us both to dig deeper, to discover who our brands' audiences are, where they're hiding out, how to reach them and how to get them to take action.

The book is divided into three parts to help you build more awareness and drive more traffic for your brand.
  • Your Dream Customer
  • Fill Your Funnel
  • Growth Hacking

Influencer Tips to Drive More Traffic

As you go through the pages in each section, Brunson shares a total of 20 Secret Tips with homework for you to do with each to put his words into practice.

In Section I, you'll learn about tips for finding your dream customers and where they are hiding as well as discovering and identifying your top 100 competitors in your niche and then model your own brand strategies after them.

Section II will help you better understand how funnels work and how to fill yours with organic and paid ads that drive traffic to your brand. This part of the book also takes you through the steps necessary to figure out who the top 100 people you should follow are on each of your active social media channels and how to build and leverage relationships with them.

Finally, in Section III the author takes you through the steps involved in creating a Funnel Hub, capitalizing on other company's existing distribution channels, working with affiliates and learning other new growth hacks.

As you work through this book, take your time to absorb everything without rushing through. There is so much to learn here, so be really patient with yourself and remember Rome wasn't built in a day. Another tip: Don't skip any of the chapters and the exercises that go along with the process since you want to lay down a strong foundation as you build your dream business skyward.

Admittedly, it does involve some effort on your part to follow through with the key strategies outlined and incorporate them in a way that makes sense for your own business. However, it's all worth it because all that hard work, if done right and done consistently, can help you reach your goals, ultimately growing your traffic, following, and engagement on your site and/or social media channels, and perhaps even impacting sales, depending on your focus and goals.

Setting & Meeting Weight Loss Goals

I'm at the start of the third week of this challenge. As I move forward, the new book Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, And Indulgent Snacks -- While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion continues to be my daily guide for improving eating habits for the better.

It's been an amazing ride so far. I'm happy to share that while I am still enjoying delicious food, thanks to this easy to stick with diet with lots of tasty options, my personal weight loss project is progressing with a total of 5 pounds lost during the first 14 days (the acceleration phase of this particular eating program). This brings me halfway to my ultimate goal of losing 10 pounds.

This book includes a simple straight forward Sample Meal Plan grid with specific ideas that vary over 30 days for exactly what to eat at each meal. This is great for someone who is game to undergo a meal program that doesn't require you to make many choices since the menus are all there for you and all you have to do is buy the proper ingredients to cook and bake all your own meals at home.

Delicious Healthy Menu Options

However, I personally don't eat pork, shellfish or much meat and instead prefer only a few types of fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. So, being the free spirit that I am, instead I found it rather simple to use Marion's Meal Plan Template found on page 71 which outlines serving sizes of protein, non-starchy vegetables and fats that are recommended to be included in each lunch, dinner, healthy dessert and pre-bedtime fat-burning snack meal.

Then, relying on the guidelines in the book's template, I custom design my own menus. This has been a breeze since all I have to do is make sure to choose from the permitted food list of protein, super carbs, fresh fruit, vegetables, and fats options on pages 40-41.

Marion explains the logic behind his diet plan, "Fact is most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience."

Dozens of mouthwatering easy-to-prepare recipes with beautiful photos of each dish are included with this book, like the Chili-Loaded Baked Potato you see pictured at the top of this post. Among other appetizing, healthy recipes you'll also find in Always Eat After 7 PM are delectable desserts for chocolate lovers, including the Salted Dark Chocolate-Dipped Peanut Butter Cookies you see below which I baked and photographed for this post.

In the past week, as the pounds start to come off, I've started gaining more energy to do the things I love -- like hiking with my family and cycling more on a bike path near the beach.

At the same time, without feeling hungry as I exercise more, I'm continuing to lose weight with this easy to stick with diet which even offers a weekly cheat day if you do some moderate exercise regularly like I do. Even if you're not very active, don't worry: The good news is this diet still allows you one cheat meal every week.

Q&A with Joel Marion, author of Always Eat After 7 PM

In the second part of this MBE series you'll be hearing from the book's author. This will help readers better understand how the diet Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts and Indulgent Snacks -- While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion works and why you should consider giving it a try. So, without further adieu, Joel Marion answers some of the most burning questions I (and you) might be wondering about.

Always Eat After 7 PM Author Joel Marion

Q 1: Where does the inspiration from this book come from and why did you write it?

"After writing six books," says Marion, "I came to the realization that there are two big myths about dieting that I felt needed to be exposed. The first concept is that it's a bad idea to eat late at night or before going to sleep. Science now shows this simply isn't true. The second misconception is that if you're trying to diet, you can't eat large portions of foods which feel filling and satisfying. Again, that's been proven wrong. This book, backed by hundreds of sources listed in the reference section, solves both these challenges by providing an easy, enjoyable and doable dieting approach that can be used by a variety of individuals to achieve just about any weight loss goals they desire."

Q2: What is different about this book from the other related titles you have written on similar topics?

"Many of the other books I've authored do share some common ground," explains Marion. "However the biggest standout difference in my newest book is that now you don't have feel deprived of the foods you love. What's more is you have don't have burden yourself with eating every few hours nor do you have to feel hunger pangs between meals. Best of all you don't have to skip the carbs at dinnertime or avoid eating before you go to sleep at night."

Eating Before Sleep

Marion points out, "Late-night eating also curbs calorie intake the next day. In a four-week study, dieters added a snack to their regimen 90 minutes after dinner every night. And, check this out: late-night eaters ate an average of 397 fewer calories per day."

In conclusion, not all diets are about self deprivation, of avoiding all kinds of carbohydrates and having to eat only boring, low calorie meals that leave you feeling hungry and unsatisfied.

Now I know I can have a guilt-free late-night snack and not feel like I'll pay for it the next day. As long as my bedtime mini meal is a fat-burning, healthy nosh such as a protein shake or several hard boiled eggs suggested by this diet to get me through the 16-hour intermittent fast each night, I'll likely be burning fat while I sleep.

More Posts Coming in the Weeks Ahead

Next time, I'll give you an update on my personal weight loss journey. In my Week #3 post, you'll read about what I've learnt from this diet book about goal setting and how it might help you be successful, too. Be sure to stay tuned because I'll also be sharing some of the delicious easy-to-prepare dishes I've made at home based on the recipes included in Always Eat After 7 PM.

American Museum of Natural History SpaceFest Today

It's a exciting day for young and old. I'm fortunate to have lived to remember the historic moment when man first walked on the moon on July 29, 1969 which only adds to the excitement for me on a personal level. Today, history is expected to be made again with the scheduled launch of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, destined for the International Space Station (ISS). This is a particularly momentus time as it is the first U.S. human mission into space in almost a decade.
