This review is a follow up to the Sony Pictures Austenland new release launch party I attended at Frederic Fekkai salon on Melrose Place in West Hollywood as a guest of Sony.

Austenland was an Official Selection at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival as well as a theatrical release on the big screen last year is this comedy romance revolving around Jane Hayes (wonderfully played by Keri Russell). As the story unfolds, our protaganist is sidetracked from finding true love, thanks to her obsession with Pride and Prejudice and just about everything else Jane Austen.
One day on a lark, Jane decides to spend her life savings on a dream trip to Austenland -- an over-the-top concocted Austen lovers destination resort. The movie's setting might bring several other places to mind inspired by celebrities like Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton of Graceland and Dollywood fame.
But, make no mistake about it, Austenland is closer to a modern day Fantasy Island than either of those real-life attractions that have endured.
The perfect movie for a girls night in tea party (or a date night at home if your sweetie will join you), Austenland is now available in-store and online on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital.

You don't have to be a Jane Austen fan to appreciate and enjoy the film, which I'd classify as a chick flick because it's written largely from a woman's point of view. This is the tale of all the hilarity and confusion that unfolds for this modern day Jane looking for love in all the wrong places from the moment she arrives at this British resort in the country.
A place where the guests are invited to be part of the staff, like a working dude ranch, for a totally immersive experience. Jane, the girl with no money, is of course the Cinderella of the bunch, dressed in servants clothes while her wealthier female counterparts are wardrobed mostly in elegant attire and equally more elegant roles.
Enter the regal Mr. Henry Nobley (J.J. Feild) and the simple farm boy Martin (Brett McKenzie) -- what could be more interesting than having two guys at each end of the socio economic divide simultaneously pursuing the same pretty poor girl? The plot will indeed thicken. Just like Jane, as you watch this you may sometimes forget this is not the 19th Century any more and you'll likely have a bit of a challenge sorting out where the fantasy ends and real life begins.
